PIGS AROUND TOWN

PIGS AROUND TOWN

Back in 2012, the Ozark Literacy Council came up with a fantastic fundraising campaign PIGSHIBITION that would not only bring light to their organization but also highlight some of our unbelievably talented northwest Arkansas artists. Since we are all about Woo-Pig-Sooie! Razorbacks, then what would be a better choice but to use large fiberglass sculptures of pigs to display these special and unique artists’ talents. This is a campaign similar to the COWPARADE featured in major world cities. The corporate sponsors of the pigs came up with the subject matter for the artistry on the pigs.  Fayetteville Flyer has a wonderful article about Pigshibition, click here to read it. It has a map of where the pigs have at one time resided.  What a fun thing to do with the kids – go pig hunting and find some of the new places you’ve never been in NWArk! A phone call to the corporate sponsors listed on the map can probably give you an idea of where to look now. Bring your hunt back around to Penguin Ed’s Barbecue on Mission Blvd. or Wedington Dr. and you will find the Pigs have Penquin friends who were in the same kind of campaign for the Tulsa Zoo. The penguins made it all the way to Fayetteville to find their home in the 2nd largest collection of penguins in the USA! Penguin Ed’s is one of the places where you can get your Keep Fayetteville Funky apparel and gifts. Giant pigs and penguins, we are definitely keeping Fayetteville funky!
