Do you love to impact the lives of people in your community? One easy way to do that is to shop local instead of shopping the big box retailers online. Every time you make a purchase at a local boutique someone actually does a little happy dance. That makes me smile in return! I love to support local businesses as often as I can no matter what I am shopping for. Over the past few years Northwest Arkansas has exploded with local businesses, making shopping local extremely easy for any type of item. Many of my family’s favorite boutiques are located in our hometown of Fayetteville. Whether you are shopping for clothing, home goods, gifts or party supplies, Northwest Arkansas has a local business for you! Many have websites and can ship directly to you. Many sell items on Instagram. Many offer curbside pickup too! If you can’t find what you need online and you can’t make it into the store, you should call them directly. I’m sure you’ll find a friendly person ready to help you out.
Let’s take a local boutique shopping tour in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Local businesses have become the backbone of Fayetteville and its surrounding culture. I frequent many businesses in the NOMA District, Fayetteville Square, and in North and East Fayetteville. Keep scrolling to join me on my shopping marathon!
North Fayetteville
Onyx Coffee Lab (@onyxcoffeelab) is a staple in any Northwest Arkansans life. Their coffee is world renowned and I love the Onyx Delight. Before you hit the boutiques of Fayetteville, you should definitely stop for coffee. Right next to Onyx you’ll find Maven Boutique (@mavenfayetteville), which has a fantastic collection of clothes and is a favorite of many for gameday apparel. Pack Rat Outdoor Center (@packratoc) is the perfect place to get all of your outdoor needs. From camping to skiing, they have everything you will need for any outdoor adventure. Need a guy gift? This is your place. MarleyMack (@marleymackboutique) is another great boutique, which is located in Uptown Apartments. You’ll find women’s clothes, shoes and a great selection of gift ideas. Masons (@shopmasons) is one of me and my daughter’s favorite boutiques in Northwest Arkansas. They sell contemporary clothing and shoes with a focus on the styles that are on-trend. Masons has a great selection of denim and many gift ideas for the woman in your life. Southern Loft (@mysouthernloft) carries an unmatched selection of furniture and décor that cannot be found anywhere else in Fayetteville. Their designers are always ready to help you find exactly what you need for the room you’re working on. Kindness & Joy Toys (@kindnessandjoytoys) is a great stop if you have children. They have a fantastic selection of children’s toys and they host many community events throughout the year that are great for any aged child. Zuzu’s Petals & Gifts (@zuzuspetalsandgifts) is one of my favorite flower shops in NWA. I love their customizable arrangements and plant selection that is unmatched in Northwest Arkansas. The owner is one of the most creative humans on the planet and her staff is the friendliest bunch in town.
East Fayetteville
Another fantastic garden store is Westwood Gardens (@westwoodgardens). With many locations across Northwest Arkansas, Westwood is a great place to look for any type of plant or tree and their knowledgeable employees are ready to answer any plant question you might have. Red Hill & House Special Interiors (@redhillhome and @thehousespecialinteriors) sell a fantastic selection of gifts as well as a great selection of home décor and Annie Sloan paint for your next project. Right across the intersection is Impressions,Impressions (@impressionsfayetteville), where you’ll find gift items, women’s clothing, and accessories that will add some pizazz into your life. Travel down Mission to Gift House Antiques (@gifthouseantiques) where you’ll find everything you never knew you were looking for to make your life more interesting. Another great location for furniture is Precious Cargo (@shoppreciouscargo). They have a great selection of furniture at an extremely reasonable price so this is your go-to store if you’re on a strict budget and your Realtor is telling you to spruce up your home for a quicker sell at a higher price.
NOMA District
Many of my favorite business are found in the NOMA district of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Freckled Hen Farmhouse (@thefreckledhenfarmhouse) has forever been one of my go to places for home goods and gifts. The owner, Natalie Freedman, does an excellent job curating sustainable products and does a great job helping customers choose the perfect gift. Maude (@shopmaude) has been a staple in Fayetteville for many years. If you are looking for unique clothing, this is an important stop for you. While you’re there you’ll want to get a picture with your shopping buddies in front of the iconic Maude Wall on the back of the building. Maude has always been one of my go to shops for clothing for myself and my daughters. One of NOMA’s newest businesses, Presley Paige (@shoppresleypaige), has quickly become my go to spot for party supplies for each of the birthdays in my family. Presley Paige has gift items as well as any party supply one could imagine. Pink House Alchemy (@pink_house_alchemy) sells small-batch simple syrups, bitters, and cocktail shrubs in fabulous flavors. Their Onyx Delight syrup, made in collaboration with Onyx Coffee Lab, is a staple in my everyday coffee routine. I’ve been known to give it in gift baskets as well!
Fayetteville Square
The Fayetteville Square hosts some of the most well-known local shops, including Riff Raff, City Supply, and Lola Boutique. Riff Raff (@riffrafffayetteville) is extremely popular among the college crowd, due to its proximity; however, there are great clothing finds that are perfect for all ages. Whether you are shopping for game day attire or everyday clothing essential’s Riff Raff has it all. City Supply (@citysupplyfayetteville) is another one of my go to shops for gifts and a favorite of my youngest daughter. They sell a curated collection of “homestead provisions” along with nostalgic goods. My entire family loves their seasonal hot chocolate and I love their rotating collection of candles. If you’re struggling to think of a man gift, you should check out City Supply. They have a great selection of gifts any man will love. The Mustache (@shopthestache), located next to both City Supply and Riff Raff, sells a fantastic collection of miscellaneous goods, which makes it a great place to find the perfect gift for that “hard to shop for” person on your list. One of my favorite stops on Block St., Shindig Paperie (@shindigpaperie), is just the place to find all of your paper goods needs. I love their wrapping paper and the wrapping inspiration they post on their Instagram. If custom stationery is on your list or if you need invitations, this is your place! As you travel further down Block St. you will find Wander (@shopwandernwa), Foxtrot (@foxtrotboutique), Lola (@lolaboutique), Skye on the Town (@skyeonthetown), and Greenrose (@greenroseonblock). All four of these boutiques offer a great selection of clothing perfect for any event! Another great place to find clothes right off of the Fayetteville Square is Darcy Apparel (@darcyapparel). Darcy Apparel has a great collection of sustainable clothing in unique and classic styles with a focus on emerging designers from around the world. If you gotten this far on your shopping journey you’ll probably need refreshments. Savoy Tea Co. (@savoytea) is a Fayetteville staple and has a storefront located right off the square on Center St. Their tea is a family favorite and I highly recommend ordering the “Life’s a Peach” sweet iced tea. Meus Floral (@meusfloral), located just off the square, has a great selection of flowers year-round, as well as a great selection of dried flowers and wreaths. Do you need a centerpiece for your dinner table? Meus will help you out! They have a great eye for design and I’m always intrigued by their flower selections.
