December Events in Northwest Arkansas

I’ll be home for Christmas!  Will you? Then take time to make some special memories here in Northwest Arkansas.  I have family fun events listed and out-on-the-town activities listed so that you can create some new Christmas traditions right here in our part of the Ozarks. Put them on your calendar today!  May these December days be Merry & Bright!

December 1

  • Fayetteville’s Lights of the Ozarks on the Downtown Square runs through December 31st. Great family photo ops, carriage rides, food vendors, and more!
  • Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks presents Gardenland Express running through December 14th.  Weekends only in the Event Hall.  Model Trains, Santa visits, and Hayrides through the gardens.
  • Bentonville’s Lawrence Plaza Ice Skating Rink!  Open daily through January 19th with special dress-up nights and movie nights scheduled for the Christmas holidays.

  • Fayetteville’s The Little Craft Show at Town Center 9:00a-4:00p
  • Fayetteville’s 14th Annual Block Street Holiday Art Show at the Shirkey House  7:00p
  • Fayetteville’s Special Holiday Farmer’s Markets  Jefferson Center (612 S. College Ave) 9:00a-2:00p
  • Springdale’s Children’s Christmas Train Ride  7 one-hour rides from 8:00a-10:00a and 12n-3:00p. (SANTA is on this train today!)
  • Springdale’s Breakfast with Santa at Art Center of the Ozarks. Seatings at 8:30a, 9:15a, and 10:00a.  Crafts and pic with Santa.  $15 children, $5 Adults
  • Springdale Public Library presents Candyland Party at 2:00p. Play on the life sized Candyland game board. This is an event for the entire family. Edible craft project included.
  • Bentonville’s Princess Winter Wonderland Brunch  Dress Up like a Princess and join Elsa and Ana for fun, crafts, photos and brunch. There will be two chances to join in the fun at 9:30 and 11:30am. Tickets are $25 and the proceeds will go to Trike Theatre.
  • Bentonville Public Library Family Storytime 2:00 p.m.   Stories and crafts for the whole family.
  • Rogers Public Libary. All ages are invited to Breakfast with Santa! Visit with Santa, enjoy a donut, make a simple craft, and get in the holiday spirit. No registration required, simply drop by at 9:00a. All children under age 7 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Don’t forget your camera!!
  • 26th Annual Highlands Church Cookie Walk—A tradition in Bella Vista community, this Cookie Walk features thousands of festive homemade cookies bake. You may wish to visit the Sweet Shoppe to buy candies, breads, and other tasty items, the Coffee Shoppe to sit and eat a sweet roll with coffee, or the Craft Shoppe to purchase delightful holiday gifts. The money raised goes to support local and regional charities. 8:30 to 11:00 a.m., or until the cookies are all gone. Admission: $12. Highlands Church. Bella Vista. (479) 855-2277.

December 7  PEARL HARBOR Remembrance Day

  • The 14th Annual Block Street Holiday Art Show at the Shirkey House  7:00p
  • Register for the Jingle Bell Jog and Reindeer Run at the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks (Dec 20).
  • CrossChurch Christmas Presentation at Pinnacle Hills Rogers. 5:30p-7:00p.
  • 2014 Winter Dreams Tour of Homes—From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. you are invited to tour some of the most elegant homes in NWA. The tour will also feature the Junior League of NWA’s Cookbook, entertainment from the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, and information about the Junior League and it’s impact on our community. Noodles Italian Kitchen in Fayetteville will be hosting the After Party immediately following the tour featuring hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Admission: $25. Various locations throughout NWA. December 8   HANNUKAH BEGINS AT SUNDOWN

  • Springdale Public Library Gallery presents Art in the Park through December 31st featuring artist Cathy Padgett.
    Reception: December 8  5:00 – 6:00 pm

  • Springdale’s Fairlane Station Event Venue Folk and Food Holiday free beer, great music, good grub.  Springdale Community Event.

  • Fayetteville Public Library Christmas Card Making Workshop at 4:00p (K-5th grades) and The Nightmare Before Christmas Movie at 6:00p.
  • Rogers Public Library– All ages are welcome to join us to watch the movie ‘The Polar Express,’ make crafts, and play games. We will serve light refreshments. Children under the age of 7 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For more information call 621-1152 ext. 26.

  • Springdale’s The Best Little Christmas Pageant Ever!  Art Center of the Ozarks Christmas play presentation.
  • Springdale’s Holiday Concert at Shiloh Museum 3:00p  The Will Bush Violin Studio students ages 6-adult will perform Christmas music.
  • Bentonvilles’s Christmas Parade “A Storybook Christmas” 11:00a Downtown
  • Springdale’s Christmas in New York and Skate with Santa 1:00 p & 5:00p  922 East Emma Ave  JONES CENTER
    “Come enjoy our annual figure skating Christmas Show! Spend your time watching talented skaters skating to all your favorite Christmas music. Included in the ticket price is the opportunity to skate with Santa after the show. Concessions will be available. There will be 2 shows, 1pm and 5pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. After the show, you are invited to skate with Santa and the cast members. For more information email [email protected].”
  • NWA Mall Annual Breakfast with Santa. This year our event supports the Boys & Girls Club of Fayetteville.  Limited seating so make your reservations early for a hot breakfast, visit with Santa and each child receives a special gift.
  • Bentonville Public Library Family Storytime 2:00 p.m.   Stories and crafts for the whole family.
  • Visit Santa on the Caboose– Children are invited to visit Santa on the Frisco Caboose from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Take family photos and deliver holiday wishes to Santa, the special mailbox next to the caboose is a great place to drop off your letter to Santa at any time.   • THE SNOMAN: A Family Concert  The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) continues its 60th Anniversary Season with an all-new family performance at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14 at Walton Arts Center’s Baum Walker Hall. Under the baton of acclaimed SoNA Music Director Paul Haas, “The Snowman: A Family Concert” will feature a special screening of the Academy-Award nominated holiday film “The Snowman” with extraordinary live orchestral soundtrack.   • Jingle Bell Run/Walk – A fun and festive way to kick off your holidays by helping others. Wear a holiday themed costume, tie jingle bells to your shoelaces and raise funds to help find a cure for arthritis. Run a chip timed 5k route or walk a 1-mile route with your team members and celebrate the season by giving. Proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation. Call or visit website to register.   • Tacky Sweater Soirée 4:30-6:30 at the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce – “Join us for our year end Tacky Sweater Soiree Holiday Open House. Come decked out in your tackiest sweater and enjoy holiday themed entertainment, delicious food provided by Qdoba, cocktails, and plenty of holiday merriment! This annual Open House is our Chamber’s way of saying thank you to all of our members for your support and participation in making 2014 a successful year!”

  • Rogers Public Library presents Saturday Surprise craft program at 2:00p for children ages 3-12.  They will provide the craft supplies and you will provide the imagination.
